One Shop, One Family, Over 40 Years

Diamond Tailors & Dry Cleaners has been on the same parade at 21 Watney Market, London E1 since 1999. It was our father's shop first; today two brothers run it, the same way he did — between us, over 40 years of combined experience behind the counter and at the press.

How We Work

Nothing leaves our hands.

The shop is run day to day by the two brothers themselves. Being family-run means there's no layer of management between the person who greets you at the counter and the person accountable for the quality of the work — decisions about how a garment is handled are made by people with a personal stake in getting it right.

Every service — dry cleaning, laundry, alterations, shoe care — is carried out on our own premises. Nothing is sent out to a third-party cleaner or an unknown subcontractor, which is common practice at many high-street chains. Your garments stay under one roof, handled by people who answer directly to you, from drop-off to collection.

It's a slower, more careful way of working — treating every piece as if it were our own — and it's the only way we've done it since 1999.

How We Clean

The fabric and the stain decide the method.

We don't put everything through one process. Depending on the garment and the mark, we use wet cleaning, professional dry-cleaning solvents, water-based cleaning, specialist stain-removal treatments and steaming — often more than one on the same piece. The method is matched to the fabric in front of us, not applied by default.

Delicate fabrics like silk and wool get gentler handling and slower, more patient stain removal. If a delicate item needs a second pass to come up right, we re-clean it the same careful way at no extra charge.

It takes longer than a single fixed cycle. That's the way the shop has always worked, and it's the reason pieces come back the way they should.
